XpertOnline offers the ability for users to be automatically notified via email whenever a Deceased indicator is identified on a credit file. When enabled, this feature further protects your business by placing the file into a Review status for your clients, bypassing the file delivery to your client.
Your team can use the information in the email to open the file, review the deceased notifications, and either approve the file for delivery back to the client, or keep the file as undelivered.
XpertOnline's Deceased Indicator Flags:
When enabled, XpertOnline scans each file your client(s) order, looking for Deceased indicator flags in the following locations:
- Score Reason Codes
- Narratives on Trades with the Words "DECEASED"
- ECOA Identifiers
- Public Records
When any of these locations in the file contain information about the borrower or co-borrower being Deceased, XpertOnline generates, sends the notification email, and withholds file delivery until your team can review the file. Upon review, the status can be updated to Done.
Enabling the Deceased Indicator Feature
To enable this feature, ensure you are using XOP version 3.14.2 Build 4344 or later, dated 5/17/2024. Check the Help | About | XpertOnline Provider menu for this info.
Once you have verified your XOP version, you can either enable the Deceased indicator feature per client or for the entirety of your Provider company.
- When you enable the feature on your Provider company, XpertOnline will automatically scan every single one of your clients’ (and all branches) credit orders from that point forward. This is a fast and easy way to further protect your company with the single-click of a button.
- Enabling client-by-client is a less intrusive method intended to help you cater to your clients’ preferences and specific needs.
Login to XOP, and follow these instructions:
1. Go to the Setup | Clients menu option and enter 0 (zero) to enable your Provider company or enter the specific client ID/name you want to enable the setting.
2. Once you have found the client you want to enable, move to the Setup tab. In this example, we are working with your provider level (zero) company in XOP.
3. Here, you will see a new option called Notify re: Deceased Via Email.
4. Check the Notify re: Deceased Via Email checkbox. Enter the email address where deceased indicator notifications should be sent. Multiple email addresses can be entered in this field. Please separate the emails by commas. We encourage users to enter a group email address here (support@YourCRA.com) so that multiple people can receive email notifications in your office.
5. Save your changes. Once saved, any new file that is ordered that contains one of the deceased indicator flags will be monitored with this feature. NOTE: If you enable this on your clients, only those enabled clients will have this service enabled.
Working in a File with the Deceased Indicator
Any user whose email is set to receive deceased indicator notifications needs to be able to process a file and, if needed, send it back to the client.
1. When you receive an email notifying you that a deceased indicator has been received on a file, locate the reference number, then search for it in XOP. Below is an example of the deceased indicator email notification. NOTE: the deceased indicator email notifications will come from NoReply@SharperLending.com. Be sure to whitelist the address to ensure delivery to your Inbox.
2. Open the file, then move to the Services tab. From the Filter by Status dropdown list, choose ALL.
3. When you set the filter to ALL, you will see a description of "Check Deceased."
4. In the Check Deceased service detail panel to the right, click on the Detail tab. Here you will find all the accounts, score factors, and other areas on the file that show a deceased indicator.
5. Scroll down through the list to see all entries. You may need to reach out the bureaus to work on removing the deceased indicator. Verify the deceased indicators coincide with the correct borrower/co-borrower, etc.
6. Add any Comments that should be printed on the file to the LO. Add any Non-Printing Notes as well that will be tracked on this service to show what you did do work on the file to verify the deceased indicator.
7. If you decide that the file should be printed back to the client, set the Status to Done, and Save. Choosing Done will clear the Deceased indicator service. As long as all the other services are Done on this file, as soon as the change is saved, XOP will send the file back to the originating client.
Please note: when Check Deceased service is updated to Done, the file will print back to the originating client - as long as all other services are set to Done.
