CRAs: Get New XPN Secondary Use Inquiry Reporting Codes Before May 15, 2025

Experian is making changes to the way they accept Secondary Use inquiries that are reported to them. Currently, most Secondary Use inquiries are reported with the same credit profile subscriber code that was used to place the original credit order. Starting May 15, Experian will only accept Secondary Use inquiries reported to them with specifically-assigned Secondary Use subscriber codes.

What Are Specifically-Assigned Secondary Use Codes?
These are subscriber codes that your Experian bureau representative will assign to you as new codes. If you have already received your specifically-assigned Secondary Use codes, please enter them in XOP. Should you need to obtain new codes, it is likely Experian will assign these codes based on the lender, but that will be determined between you and your Experian representative.

Additionally, Experian will be assigning Secondary Use codes based on the reissue type:
  • Wholesale Lender Reissue (non-agency reissue)
  • Fannie Mae Reissue
  • Freddie Mac Reissue

Depending on the type of reissue, Experian will receive the corresponding code as a part of the Secondary User inquiry report.

SharperLending will automatically identify the type of reissue, so there is no need to worry about that. We only need your Secondary Use specific codes to input on your behalf by May 15, 2025.

How Can I Get the Correct Secondary Use Codes From Experian?
Please reach out to your Experian representative to confirm that you have the correct codes. If you do not have codes yet, you can begin the process of obtaining these new codes.

What Do I Do With My Codes Once I Have Them?
Please add your new codes directly into XOP from the Setup | Access Codes menu option. Click the New button and select Experian from the drop-down list.

When adding in codes, please add in a Description of “Second Use FNMA – (lender name or master, etc.)” or “Second Use FMAC – (lender name or master, etc.)” or “Second Use WL – (lender name or master, etc.).”  See examples below:
  • Description: Second Use FNMA – Master Code
  • Description: Second Use FMAC – Master Code
  • Description: Second Use WL – Master Code

Prefixing the description as “Second Use” will indicate to SharperLending that this code should be exclusively used for second use reporting, and the “FNMA/FMAC/WL” will indicate the type of second use that the code is to be used for.

Please assist us by identifying if the code is a master code or a lender specific code.

Finally, once you have your codes entered into XOP, email Matt Brannon at the email below and let us know your codes are in place! We will configure these codes for you to ensure there is no confusion when applying these to creating new products.

Will the New Secondary Use Codes Be Assigned As Master Codes?
This depends on what you and your Experian representative decide. While master codes are preferred, SharperLending can accommodate a master code or client-specific codes.
